TMC Transportation Joins Smartway Partnership

DES MOINES, Iowa, September 10, 2008 - TMC Transportation is pleased to announce its partnership with Smartway Transport, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the freight industry designed to increase energy efficiency while significantly decreasing green house gases and air pollution.  
 
TMC will contribute to the Partnership's goal to reduce 33 to 66 million metric tons of 
carbon dioxide and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012. 
 
"Joining the Smartway Partnership is a continuation of our commitment to increase fuel efficiency in our operations," says Bryan Bryant, TMC Fuel Manager. "TMC has been working to decrease our carbon footprint and increase fuel efficiency by reducing truck speeds to improve miles per gallon, providing continuous driver education on fuel economy and out of route, and testing auxiliary power units."
