TMC Transportation Celebrates National Truck Driver Appreciation Week
TMC Transportation celebrated National Truck Driver Appreciation Week from September 13 to 19 with a variety of activities and prizes. TMC drivers were treated to free lunch all week at the Des Moines terminal and given a custom, patriotic themed Driver Appreciation Week 2015 t-shirt, along with other goodies.
Throughout the week there were daily trivia contests and prize drawings for drivers to participate in. One lucky driver even took home a 55-inch Magnavox Smart TV courtesy of Allstate Peterbilt Group. Additionally, TMC also hosted a free flu clinic at their Des Moines and Ankeny locations.
“It’s always important to us to make sure our drivers feel appreciated, but for Driver Appreciation Week we always strive to take it to the next level,” says Glen McCravy, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management. “We know how important their jobs are and want to spread awareness to others outside the industry as well.”
On Tuesday, Sept. 15, office employees at the Des Moines terminal were volunteering to clean out the trucks of drivers stopping by the terminal. A fun and friendly truck cleaning competition was held between office employees and company vice presidents as well.
TMC Fleet Managers teamed up to clean drivers' trucks.
According to competition participant and TMC Vice President of Linehaul Operations Tim Heim, “TMC has always been known for our sharp-looking trucks, and we have high standards for their appearance. We wanted the opportunity to show our drivers that we understand and appreciate who keeps them that way.”

Each TMC terminal hosted it’s own celebratory barbeque. On Tuesday, Sept. 15, the Gaston, SC and Indianapolis terminals held a free lunch sponsored by The Pete Store and Power Train. On Wednesday, Allstate Peterbilt Group sponsored lunch in Des Moines, and on Thursday our friends at Electronic Funds Source brought a smoker to our Joplin terminal to barbeque some lunch for drivers, office and shop employees. The week was rounded out with TMC’s annual Driver Appreciation Week Cookout held at the Des Moines headquarters and Ankeny training facilities.
