TMC Driver Assists in Roadside Rescue

TMC driver Jeff Cline was recently driving in Calhoun County, GA when a pick-up truck became tangled up with a semi truck in front of him.

"The pick-up came out of nowhere and hit the drive tire on the truck in front of me," he recounts. "Then it flew off to the side of the road, hit a large highway sign and rolled down into the woods. The highway sign was sent into traffic.”

Cline says that due to his safe following distance he was able to stop his truck without a hard break and bring it over to the shoulder safely. His mother, who travels with him for one week each summer, was with him and she called 911. Jeff set out triangles so that other motorists would avoid the sign. He then ran down the hill and into the woods to help the drivers in the pick-up.

"There were three guys in the truck: Rob, Kevin and Ray," he remembers. They were pretty shook-up and in and out of consciousness. I just tried to keep them warm and awake while we waited for EMS to arrive."

When EMS arrived, Cline helped them carry the three men back up to the road. He was surprised that only one other man in a mini-van stopped to help. "There were two other truck drivers sitting on the side of the road, one being the driver involved in the accident, and neither one offered any help."

The next day Jeff found out from the office on the scene that all three drivers were all alive and recovering, but he could not give any more details.

TMC is proud to have brave, selfless drivers like Jeff on the road.
