Greg Stehouwer has been named TMC’s Driver Trainer of the Month for July 2020. Greg has been with the company for nearly ten years now, a trainer for the last 6 years. This is not Greg’s first time receiving this award; Greg first was awarded Driver Trainer of the Month after his first year as a Trainer in October 2015.Greg

Prior to TMC, Greg was a Plant Manager who was laid off during the 2008 recession. He switched to TMC and never looked back. It turned out to be a great choice; “Greg has proven to be an excellent trainer and driver for TMC,” said Jeff Geist, Training and Coordinator Manager.

His favorite part about the job is meeting each trainee and adapting his teachings to their experience and personality type. He continues to be successful at TMC and truly values what his trainees take away from the experience. What makes him a great trainer is his teaching style…he prioritizes education and safety, “I don’t care about the pay I get, what is more important is the education that the trainees get. I want them to learn how to be safe, get great pay, and be successful.”

The most important part about his job? Longevity. “I want the trainees to be successful, safe, and I focus on longevity. It is the most important part for me.” Said Greg. “The Drivers he trains, stay with us and have excellent safety history. [He] is a perfect role model for what our new drivers aspire to be,” added Jeff Geist.

“Greg has proven to be an excellent trainer and driver for TMC…the drivers he trains stay with us and have excellent safety history,” said Jeff Geist, Training and Coordinator Manager.

Driver trainers are vital to the TMC training department, and each month a trainer is chosen who demonstrates the outstanding qualities TMC looks for in a trainer. The Trainer of the Month recipient is chosen based on their safety record and the safety performance of their trainees, the number of drivers trained, and the retention percentage of those drivers.
