TMC Driver Recruiters Meet for Annual Conference
As a growing company, we’re always striving to grow our skill sets and be better at our jobs. Most recently, the TMC Recruiting department assembled for its annual conference, an opportunity to connect and improve their roles as driver recruiters.
The Recruiting department is based in Ankeny, Iowa, just north of our main terminal in Des Moines, and houses several recruiters that serve as a point of contact for both student and experienced drivers wanting to join TMC. In addition to the home base, we also have a few field recruiters who travel to driving schools in the Eastern half of the country to promote TMC’s workforce. Many of our field recruiters rarely see a TMC terminal, so having them all in one place was pretty special.
On Thursday, Jan. 8, all of the recruiters gathered first for a sales training program hosted by TMC’s Logistics Project Manager, Eleke Ukpabi. Here the recruiters learned how to apply sales practices to their roles and recruiting methods. The Operations team also dropped by to discuss several goals for 2015 in terms of freight and acquiring new accounts.
The following day the field recruiters joined together to familiarize themselves with various internal projects within the company, including the utilization of Professional DynaMetric Programs, or PDP, with drivers, trainers and fleet managers, as well as the outreach of the newly established Social Media Team. The conference was wrapped up with an overall review of future recruiting goals and methods that will allow TMC to continue expanding its network of talented professional drivers.
Field recruiters shake the hands of orientation graduates as they head off to start over the road training.
Of course, the conference wasn’t just all work and no play. The recruiting team was treated to a fun night of bowling and pizza as well.
