Put Your Military Driving Skills To Work

on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Military

Nearly every state in the country is now offering a military skills test waiver.  Veterans, who qualify, need only to pass the written exam in order to get their Class A CDL. To see if you qualify, visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration web site. Currently, Alaska and South Carolina are the only states not offering the waiver, but it’s anticipated that all states will offer it by the spring of this year. It’s never been faster or easier to put your transportation career in motion.

If you were recently in the military and obtained your CDL through the skills test waiver, TMC does not require you to complete truck driving school.  We recognize your years of driving experience in the military as the equivalent of attending driving school.  Through our comprehensive training program we can provide all the industry related and flatbed training you will need to become a professional truck driver for TMC.

We are an industry leader known for our top notch, state-of-the-art training program. A TMC driver has won Trucking’s Top Rookie contest two out of the three years that it’s been held, and they’ve both been military veterans. Our orientation will teach you the additional skills needed in the trucking industry and for flatbed: DOT regulations, load securement principles and tarping techniques, and plenty of drive time behind the wheel of our black and chrome Peterbilt trucks. You will be paid during orientation and can draw on any education benefits you’re eligible for through the VA while driving for us for up to 2 years through our VA Approved On the Job Training Program. This is a great opportunity to start your new career and make money right away upon completion of military service.
