colebickhamTMC Transportation is pleased to announce that Cole Bickham was awarded a scholarship from the Truckload Carriers Association. Cole worked as an intern at TMC Transportation in the Corporate Communications Department this past Summer. Cole’s dad, Randy Bickham, is a long-time Projects Manager in TMC’s I.T. Department.

Cole is currently a student at Brigham Young University, a private research university located in Provo, Utah. “I knew that I needed more money to pay for school,” Cole shared. He began searching Google for scholarships and funding, as well as looking back on his past work with TMC. “Between my internship and my dad working at TMC for several years, I realized how much of a community there was in the industry”. Randy, Cole’s dad, mentions that this sense of community is why Cole decided to apply for the award.

The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) Scholarship Fund has been helping full-time students since 1973. According to the TCA’s website, the Fund awards up to $6,250 per year to each full-time undergraduate student recipient.

“I was ecstatic when I found out I had received this award. This was a huge blessing,” Cole furthers.

Cole plans to graduate this Spring with a degree in Communications. He hopes to be established in his community and in a job where he works with a large amount of people. Cole is also getting married to a fellow BYU student this November. The timing of the award gives him extra time to focus on his wedding and extra-curricular activities. “I am excited for Cole to have this scholarship,” Randy adds. “This funding will help him work part-time during this school year...he will be able to enjoy his extracurricular activities.”

As one of the most exciting years of his life begins to unfold, Cole reflects on his past internships and the help he has received from the transportation industry. “I'm thankful for the Truckload Carriers Association and everyone who contributes to supporting education. I'm in a position in life where I'm excited to learn and give back to the world, but first I need a little help to get going. Your contributions help me to be in a position where I can better help others. I'm also grateful for the people I worked with at TMC who helped me learn and progress.”

Congratulations, Cole, on this remarkable achievement!
