TMC’s Gregory Stehouwer joined the company as a flatbed truck driver in December 2010 and has been training new drivers for almost two years now.

Greg enjoys training because he likes to see other drivers succeed and achieve their goals.

What motivated Greg to be a trainer was seeing drivers lacking proper education and safety precautions. “I felt that I could make a difference, do it the TMC way and pay it forward.”

When training his drivers, Greg puts them first in an effort to help them get the best experience while putting their education to good use. “I like to take it easy and make sure they understand step-by-step.”

As far as what goes into being a great trainer, Greg finds it important to get to know each trainee personally and learn what he/she responds to. “You have to understand their personality and work from there. Remember what you need to do and how to do it safely. Above all, enjoy what you do as a professional driver.”

Over the years, Greg has had former trainees calling him and letting him know how they are doing. “It is rewarding to know they are doing well and are happy with their profession.”
