Logistics Sales Executive II Ben Siegel is a pillar of TMC Logistics’ Columbia office in more ways than one. Not only is he one of the office’s top-performing sales reps, he’s also a leader and role model on the sales team, and he demonstrates TMC’s values every day. For all these reasons, we’re proud to recognize Ben as the Logistics Employee-Owner of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2025!
A Strong Sense of Ownership
Ben’s approach to sales is defined by his sense of ownership, says Logistics Sales Manager Austin Romanuski. “I think what is most impressive is how much Ben has taken ownership of his business, the knowledge of his business, the experience he has working with who he works with,” Austin says. “He has complete ownership of what's going on, and when he feels like he doesn't have ownership, he goes and grabs it.”
General Manager Julian Montague agrees. “He does take a lot of pride and invests a lot of himself personally in his business relationships,” he says. “It is meaningful to him personally. It matters to him that he delivers a good product. It troubles him if he's not delivering a good quality product.”
Through this sense of ownership, Ben has developed deep relationships with many of his customers, and they trust him to provide industry-leading freight solutions for their business. Ben does a great job building trust not only through hard work and delivering outstanding results, but through open, honest, and proactive communication, demonstrating integrity in every conversation. “He services his customers at a very high level,” Julian says.
Hard Work Every Day
Ben’s strong sense of ownership is backed up by a lot of hard work, day in and day out. “It's Monday to Friday, every day, all day," Austin says. "He'll be out of here at 6:00 some nights. And then he'll be at home, plugged in, with the phone going."
Ben is always willing to go the extra mile for his customers—sometimes even literally. When he learned that the truck delivering a load for a customer was delayed due to an unexpected accessorial charge, Ben took the initiative to drive to the consignee to address the issue himself, so that the carrier wasn’t delayed and the load could be delivered smoothly.
“He’s very much a grinder,” Julian says, referring to Ben's exemplary work ethic.
Leadership in the Office
Ben’s hard work and time spent developing his skills have certainly led to success for him individually, but he has also used what he has learned to become a leader in the Columbia office.
Julian says that Ben is quick to offer advice and guidance to newer sales reps to help them navigate tricky situations and make the right decisions for their customers and TMC. “He'll pipe up unasked and say, ‘This is what you need to do,’” he says. “He's not aloof—he's not that guy. He looks to help the team, support our business and our growth, and help the new reps out.”
Austin says that Ben often presents his own experience as a challenge to his coworkers—one that he pushes them to meet. “He says, ‘I've challenged myself and the people around me to accomplish this. You can do the same thing,’” Austin says. “At his core, he likes to challenge his teammates, and he does it in a very reasonable and caring way.”
Ben shows his leadership in more subtle ways, too, Austin says, such as talking a bit more loudly on the phone when he’s demonstrating a sales technique that’s been recently discussed in the office. This allows everyone around him to learn from his example. “He really has a can-do attitude,” Austin says. “Even I learn stuff from Ben—probably more than he knows.”
With his combination of sales skills, hard work, and willingness to help those around him succeed, Ben has truly made a tremendous impact at TMC Logistics. Congratulations to Ben on being named Employee-Owner of the Quarter!
