Brian Post Named TMC's Trainer of the Month for November 2019

on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in Awards & Recognition

Brian started his journey with TMC in 2013 while going through the process of retiring from the Army. After attending a career fair in Fort Knox, KY, and meeting a recruiter, he had a feeling that TMC was going to be the place for him. “I’ve always had a ‘get the job done’ mindset, and I knew this was something I could do,” he says.

After driving for two years, the idea of training came to Brian somewhat organically. While picking up a load one day, another TMC driver asked Brian for assistance. “I came to find out he was a newer driver and he wanted to make sure his securement and everything looked okay before he left,” Brian says. Both drivers ended up delivering to the same place. Even though it wasn’t going to get him home, Brian took another load that would keep him running with the new driver. “I just wanted to help the guy out and do the right thing for the company, and that’s really how it all started.”

Brian was a drill sergeant during his time in the Army, so he had plenty of experience from training soldiers over the years. “I train on the same principles that I used in the military,” Brian says. “I do my best to be fair and understanding, all while teaching the skills at their pace.”

If there’s one thing Brian stresses to his drivers, it’s that safety is a priority. “My ultimate goal is to have drivers who are safe on the road and on the job,” he furthers. Brian added that training reminds him of the things he takes for granted. “Doing this reminds me to take a step back and refresh my own memory at times.”

Brian is grateful for the time he has had this far with TMC. “Shout-out to my Fleet Manager, Sam Bricker, for solidifying my decision to train. I’d also like to thank TMC overall for the support throughout the years.”

Driver trainers are vital to the TMC Training department, and each month a trainer is chosen who demonstrates the outstanding qualities TMC looks for in a trainer. The Trainer of the Month recipient is chosen based on their safety record and the safety performance of their trainees, the number of drivers trained and the retention percentage of those drivers. Congratulations to our November 2019 Trainer of the Month, Brian Post!
