Jordan Head Named Trainer of the Month For April 2016

Jordan Head made his dream of becoming a truck driver a reality when he joined TMC Transportation as an elite flatbed driver in October 2013. Jordan grew up around trucks and had always admired his great grandfather’s trucking awards.

Jordan’s driver trainer, Steven Crabb, had passed on valuable knowledge as a fellow trucker and a friend. This expert insight gave Jordan the confidence to advance his career with TMC Transportation. “Mr. Head is a very hardworking person that is dedicated to doing things correctly at TMC. He was great to work with when I was training with him. We need more drivers like Jordan,” says Steven.

Jordan describes driver training as a prideful experience. “It’s like watching a kid grow up – you feel proud,” he says. “I have the chance to bring a brand new, many times inexperienced, individual into this industry and turn them into quality drivers.”

When it comes to training drivers, Jordan strives to teach efficiency. “Every second out in the field counts. Learning proper securement will save you a lot of time, so pay very close attention,” Jordan says.

“Jordan has trained over nine new drivers over the course of the past year and produced drivers that are safe and productive at their job. He feels rewarded helping other new flatbed truck drivers be successful,” says Training Coordinator Manager, Jeff Geist.

Jordan lets his trainees know they can always give him a call once they get the keys to their own latest model Peterbilt. “I still keep in contact with my former driver trainer and all my former trainees because it’s good to know you have somebody out there,” says Jordan.

Above all, Jordan sees his drivers as lifelong partners in the trucking industry. “At the end of the day, they will be the ones building TMC’s reputation and our ESOP as well,” he explains.

Jordan plans to retire with TMC Transportation and will continue to help new drivers advance their driving career and reach success.

Driver trainers are vital to the TMC Training Department. Each month, a trainer who demonstrates the outstanding qualities TMC looks for in a trainer earns the title of Driver Trainer of the Month. The Trainer of the Month recipient is chosen based on their safety record and the safety performance of their trainees, the number of drivers trained, and the retention percentage of those drivers.
