Logistics Employee-Owner of the Quarter: Renee Borden

on Friday, January 30, 2026 in Awards & Recognition

Senior Account Executive Renee Borden combines a gritty work ethic, transportation expertise, and outstanding relationship-building skills. Over her five-year tenure with TMC Logistics, she’s proven herself as a top performer, leading the entire Logistics Division in margin for the fourth quarter of 2025. For all these reasons, we’re proud to recognize Renee as the Logistics Employee-Owner of the Quarter for Q4.

High Expectations and Hard Work

As a Senior Account Executive, Renee is responsible for meeting the freight needs of a book of customers and providing day-to-day account management.

Logistics Sales Manager Austin Romanuski says Renee has proven herself to be a very skilled “farmer”—someone who can nurture a customer relationship and help it grow over time. In particular, she has taken over two of the Columbia office’s key customer accounts and made them even more profitable.

Her approach to her work, says Austin, is “high volume, high velocity, high pressure, but it is designed in a way that should be comfortable to execute if you're willing to work as hard as Renee.”

Renee’s work ethic, Austin believes, challenges her coworkers to rise to her level: “When it's time to get things done, she's going to have high expectations, but she's doing the work in the front end to make sure that everything makes sense and everyone's on the same page.”

Renee’s hard work has led to incredible success. But Austin says she remains humble, despite her great results. “She is such an expert, but she says none of it's rocket science,” he says. “If you come to Renee for help, she’ll say, ‘Oh, you're struggling with your pipeline? Just chase flatbed, no tarp, this area, call a hundred of them today. It's not rocket science, it's just about putting in the work.’”

The Value of Relationships

Renee has built her career and her book of business on relationships, both with her customers and with her coworkers.

Through hard work and consistency, she builds trust with her customers. She feels a strong sense of ownership over these relationships, investing a lot of herself into them. “It's highly important to her that she not let her customers down,” says Julian Montague, Logistics General Manager. “She's grown some of these relationships from the start, and they are very important to her.”

During a recent in-person visit to a major customer, Austin says he got to see for himself the great relationships Renee has established. When he and Renee met her main point of contact, “both of their faces lit up. They both immediately connected, talking about family, talking about everything.”

Later in the day, Renee also had a chance to demonstrate the transportation expertise that also underpins her success. Austin recalls that when an operations manager she had worked with came into the room, she took the initiative to sit down with him and ask questions about what he was working on. “She wanted to gain an understanding of the challenges he was facing,” Austin says. “She has a great way of becoming what we call ‘sticky’ with her customers, where when they think transportation, they think Renee at TMC.”

Within the Columbia office, Renee has also built great relationships with her colleagues. As a more senior team member, Renee has gained a tremendous breadth of knowledge about TMC Logistics, making connections within the company that allow her to offer great service to her customers. “Renee is a font of that type of knowledge,” Julian says. “She knows how to get things done at TMC, and she knows how to make the TMC organization work for her. She's always happy to share that knowledge.”

Renee’s success also makes her a role model—which she embraces. “Renee is never too busy to advise, coach, and mentor her colleagues,” Julian adds. “She's very plugged into the culture, and invested in the success of the Columbia office and TMC as a whole.”

With hard work and a focus on relationships, Renee has truly made an impact at TMC Logistics’ Columbia office. Congratulations to Renee for being named the Employee-Owner of Q4!
