TMC Transportation Recognized at White House Upskill Summit

TMC Transportation was among 20 companies recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor as Apprenticeship Leaders at the White House Upskill Summit that took place in Washington D.C. this past Friday. TMC’s Driver Recruiting Manager, Cheryl Freauff, was in attendance.
The honor comes from TMC’s commitment to a strong Apprenticeship Program which makes the transition into the transportation industry as seamless as possible.
Additionally, Cheryl participated in break-out sessions to speak with other leaders about ways they are implementing apprenticeship programs in which employers are getting the working benefits of a college degree without the cost of tuition associated with a four-year university degree. As TMC has found, apprenticeship is a valuable and sought-after tool that helps people become highly skilled workers.
Vice President Biden and Administration officials spoke with attendees at the summit on the topic of companies helping job seekers secure valuable job training and the importance of training programs to help front-line workers advance. The objective is to construct career paths for those who desire to increase their skill set, enabling them to enter the middle class.
“It was an honor to be invited,” says Cheryl. “Apprenticeship programs are an ‘earn as you learn’ concept, and TMC has one of the largest in the state of Iowa. We give drivers the ability to fast-track to a financially rewarding career.”

All drivers entering their driving career at TMC receive on-the-job training through driving instructors, driver trainers and additional ongoing mentorship. They have the opportunity to transition into a career in which actual training time is relatively short compared to the earning potential. As a result, drivers can achieve a fast-track entrance into a career that offers a healthy income.
