Congratulations to George Calore, 2016's Wheel Master Recipient

on Friday, April 7, 2017 in Awards & Recognition

TMC’s annual Wheel Master Meeting took place this past Saturday, April 1st at TMC’s headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. The Wheel Master award was created as a way to recognize TMC Transportation’s best drivers. Each year, a driver is honored with the Wheel Master distinction based on years of service with the company, safe driving record, and overall quality performance.

The meeting brought in Wheel Masters both past and present, also serving as a platform to induct the newest Wheel Master into the prestigious order. The recipient of the 2016 Wheel Master award was George Calore, who with nearly two decades of service and over 1.5 million safe driving miles, humbly accepted the award before a room full of his peers and TMC management.

“I’m still on cloud nine,” George said as he was presented with a plaque and ‘TMC Wheel Master’ ring. “This is such a great honor to be called a TMC Wheel Master.”

“It’s always a great event we look forward to every year as we announce the latest Wheel Master recipient,” says Glen McCravy, Executive Vice President of Risk Management and Human Resources. “When you get 19 drivers in a room who represent 447 years of safe driving, totaling 52,255,137 safe miles, it is exciting and humbling to think about all that they have achieved. These drivers are not just great drivers, but they are great people. They excel in every area of their job with immeasurable professionalism, and Mr. Calore fits right in with this group of gentlemen. He is like an expensive watch, always on time and just keeps working.”

In addition to the quality time together, the prestigious group of drivers enjoyed a great lunch and plenty of laughter. At this meeting, there are no job titles; just a group of friends who respect one another and enjoy each other’s company. Once again, congratulations to George in receiving the most esteemed title awarded at TMC.
