treyTMC Logistics Intern, Trey Castle, was named second runner-up in Iowa State University’s prestigious Ivy Sales Forum at the Ivy College of Business (sponsored by Pella Windows) on November 19, 2020. Trey is in his final year at Iowa State, studying Marketing and Management. “Iowa State has been a great experience for me. I would have never thought Iowa State would have presented me with so many opportunities, yet the university has provided me much more. From the people I have met, friends I have made, and the teachers that have helped me... I would not want my four years of college to go any other way,” Trey said.

Iowa State’s Ivy Sales Program helps prepare undergraduate business students for a career in sales upon graduation. The Dean’s Fellow in Marketing and Director of Ivy Sales Consortium, Raj Agnihotri, launched the Ivy Sales Program in Spring 2019, and it has quickly sprung to the top being named one of the “Top University Sales Programs in 2019” by Sales Education Foundation.

The Ivy Sales Forum consists of 20 members who ‘strive to advance the growth and effectiveness of professional sales’, while working with corporations to provide students 'relevant experiential learning opportunities’. “The Sales Forum was an amazing experience,” Trey told TMC. “This was my first class where I gained first-hand knowledge of what it is like to be a salesperson. Professor Raj Agnihotri went above and beyond to prepare us. I have never felt so prepared as I am now for a career in sales.”

Trey conducted his sales approach in two separate meetings graded off of a variety of factors: rapport building, identifying needs, ability to handle objections, approach, product demonstration, cost discussion, objection handling, the close, and overall communication and presentation.

With graduation coming close, Trey has begun looking at his future. He has been an intern at TMC Transportation’s satellite office in Ames, IA since June 2020. “From the first-day, I was accepted in an environment that allowed me to succeed. Supervisors and full-time employees were more than willing to help with any of my questions which really made it a great experience.” After graduation, Trey has accepted a position at Amazon. Congratulations, Trey! Best of luck in all your future endeavors!
