Tim Alford Named Driver of the Fourth Quarter for 2016

on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Awards & Recognition

With over 1.2 million safe driving miles and 10 years at TMC, Tim Alford is a shining example of TMC’s motto, ‘Destination: Excellence’.  Committed to doing everything right while out on the road, Tim is driven to be successful.

“You have to want to do this,” he says. “Trucking is a lifestyle, not a job. Your truck is your house and you have to learn to live on the road. If you don’t want it, you won’t be successful. It comes a bit easier for me because I’ve always wanted to do this.”

Though flatbed trucking can often be a challenging industry to conquer, TMC has been with Tim every step of the way to help him reach his goals. He credits his former Fleet Manager and current Operations Manager, Kyle Miller, with giving him the push he needed to succeed.

“I struggled when I first started, but when Kyle became my Fleet Manager, he changed my attitude,” Tim explains. “That’s the thing I love most about TMC. I’ve got a great team of people to back me up. I know if I put in 100%, they will too.”

In addition to being one of TMC’s top earning over-the-road truck drivers, Tim also helps mold the future of TMC as a driver trainer. He shows rookie drivers the ropes to the flatbed industry while teaching them to be safe and efficient in their new career. Tim was named Trainer of the Month in January of 2016 as a result of his dedication.

Chris York, former TMC driver and Tim’s Fleet Manager, has nothing but great things to say about him. “He goes above and beyond in every situation and makes sure that everything he and his trainees do is up to TMC standards. He has never said no to any favor we have asked of him. Tim is just an all-around fantastic person and what every driver at TMC should strive to be.”

For Tim, safety comes first while he is out on the road. “Pay attention and always expect other people’s actions to be a reflection of yours,” he says.

One of Tim’s most memorable loads he hauled was a shipment of building materials that he delivered to the construction site of the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. “The places I get to see because of this job are incredible. I love being able to travel all over the country for a living. I appreciate the opportunity TMC has given me.”

In his free time, Tim enjoys riding his Harley around his native West Virginia, working on his car and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
