Haul Away Hunger: TMC Food Drive 2019 Recap!

on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Company News

Another year of TMC’s annual Food Drive is in the books. We had another great year with a TON of giving. Of course, no TMC Food Drive is complete without a little friendly competition to motivate our employees to push the limits. Here’s how we spent our week working to HAUL AWAY HUNGER!

There were seven teams divided between all of TMC’s office and shop locations nationwide. Each day brought its own “challenge,” where employees focused on certain items that are in higher demand at most food banks and charity operations. The team that brought in the most items for each day’s challenge took the top spot and earned points and prizes as they pursued first place on the leader board. At the end of the week, the team with the most points took home the coveted “TMC Food Drive” trophy, and will have the honor of displaying it in their department the until next year.

The fun filled challenge days included:

Meaty Monday: Most protein items
Team “Hasta La Pasta, Baby” won the most points for that day, as well as pizza for lunch on Tuesday. The group was made up of our Admin, Asset Management and Customer Service departments in Des Moines, IA.

Tuesday Fuel-Day: Most breakfast items
A new team decided to rise and shine on Tuesday, with “Let’s Can Hunger” claiming first place and fueling their score with 50 bonus points! This team consisted of multiple departments from across the country, such as Bentonville, AR; Naperville, IL; Jacksonville, FL; Phoenix, AZ and Fort Worth, TX!

We <3 Carbs Wednesday: Most pasta and soup items
“Hasta La Pasta, Baby” came back out on top with the largest haul of pasta and soup items. This also earned them donuts on Thursday morning. Talk about carb loading!

Scrub-a-Dub Thursday: Most personal care items
Our teams got squeaky clean on our last challenge day. “Let’s Can Hunger” washed up in first place again and scrubbed up 100 bonus points along the way.

Grand Finale Friday: Total count of all items
All of the teams stepped up to bring in last minute items to contribute to the food drive. This day really focused on what was important: the season of GIVING!

Which team came out on top? It was “Let’s Can Hunger!” Between all seven teams, TMC collected 14,268 non-perishable food and wellness items to donate to food banks and charity programs all over the country! We can’t thank our employees enough for another successful year of kicking off the season of giving!
