Soldier for Life Program Visits TMC

On April 5, 2017, TMC was privileged to get a visit from two officers responsible for the Central Region for the Army’s Soldier for Life Program.

One of the functions of this program is to assist Veterans who are looking to transition into a new, civilian career. Soldier for Life offers an online site that provides resources such as e-based learning tools and connections to career opportunities.  The U.S. Army started Soldier for Life in July 2012, designed to help military service members to leave the Army “career ready”. Soldiers for Life Centers are being set up on posts, camps, and stations to educate soldiers and their families on civilian career planning.

John Heine, TMC’s Military/Veteran Recruiting Manager, attends hiring events geared for military service members/Veterans. These events are set up by organizations like Soldier for Life Program and Hiring our Heroes. As these agencies work to help service members secure careers before they even leave the military, John reaches out to make them aware of what TMC has to offer. John says: “Ultimately my goal is to help them find a new career with TMC, which is a Veteran-friendly company”.

Stephen J. Canonico, Master Sergeant, U.S. Army and Jon K. Sowards, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, toured TMC’s Training Center in Des Moines, IA. They were able to meet and speak with several recently transitioned soldiers who were attending TMC’s Orientation. During the tour, they saw how TMC sets new drivers up for success by providing all the training they need to enter a new career with confidence. With TMC’s performance-based pay structure, drivers have an opportunity to earn the same level of pay as a tenured driver. Military personnel are in general a good fit with TMC due in part to the high standards and well-structured environment that is TMC’s core.
