Brent Heisner Named Logistics Employee-Owner of Q2

on Thursday, August 13, 2026 in Awards & Recognition

When Brent Heisner joined TMC Logistics last September as a logistics sales executive, he brought his natural sales talent and relationship-building skills. Over the last ten months, Brent has gained the industry-specific knowledge he needs to be a true partner to his customers, with great results. For all these reasons, Brent was chosen as the Employee-Owner of the Quarter for Q2.

A Natural Talent for Sales

Though Brent was new to the transportation industry when he came to TMC, he wasn’t new to sales. He’s worked in customer service and sales for his entire career, and he brought outstanding communication skills and a knack for relationship-building to his role.

“He's a natural, high-energy, really good salesman,” says Logistics Sales Manager Clay Chrouser. “When he hears a no, it's just a way of someone telling him ‘not yet.’ He'll just keep trying to push it over the line.

“He makes you feel like a lifelong friend, instantly,” Clay continues. “He makes customers feel like what we’re doing here is not transactional; we're here to build a relationship.”

Logistics General Manager Ben Fisher says that Brent’s favorite saying, “peeling back the onion,” gives a lot of insight into his approach to sales. “He's always trying to find a way in, using his personality, and then he'll get a little sliver of hope and he'll say, ‘Just peeling back that onion. I'm going to get that onion in a little bit.’”

Clay agrees: “In every conversation, the customer reveals a little bit more. And Brent makes a note of that. And he's going to come back to that next time and try to expand on it. You can't really teach people to do that. That's what's great about it and why he's probably found such early success. He's trying to get to the core of people.”

“He's really got that knack of noticing, remembering, and caring about people,” Ben says.

This skill with building relationships is more than just a nice-to-have—it’s allowed Brent to build strong business partnerships with his customers. One customer has gone out of their way to continue doing business with TMC Logistics because of how much they enjoy working with him.

Staying Hungry

Brent’s natural sales talent is a great asset, but he brings an equally remarkable work ethic to his job, as Clay says. “He’s first one in the building, the hardest working. Every day, it doesn't matter how many loads he moves, how much money he makes, his goal is to make at least 30 calls a day. He just wants more and more.”

While this is a great trait to have in and of itself, it has come in very handy as Brent has worked to master the details of the transportation industry.

Brent has proven that he’s quick to learn, and eager to improve. “He's hungry for knowledge,” says Ben. “We had conversations with him about the different factors that go into the pricing, quoting, seasonalities, and he'd say, ‘That's what I need to get to. Those are the conversations I want to be able to have.’ From the beginning, he's recognized where his weaknesses are, and he always wants to improve those areas.”

And, as Clay points out, Brent is also great at retaining information he gets and applying it in new situations. “Once you show him something once, he gets it,” Clay says. “He knows how to do it. You don't have to keep showing him how to do it over and over again.”

Brent combines a natural sales talent, a great work ethic, and a drive to better himself. With less than a year at TMC Logistics, he’s already proven himself to be a sales leader. And what’s more, says Clay, he’s a great addition to the culture of the Des Moines office: “I don't think he has an enemy in this world, anywhere. No one dislikes the guy. And I'm being dead serious about that. Everyone loves him. He’s everyone’s best friend.”

Congrats to Brent Heisner for being named the Employee-Owner of the Quarter for Q2!
