Horatio Inniss has been named TMC Transportation’s Driver of the 3rd Quarter for 2015. Horatio is considered one of our veteran drivers, having been with the Black & Chrome for over 15 years.
After spending several years in the Army and the National Guard, Horatio jumped into the flatbed trucking industry in December 2000. Since then, he has built an outstanding reputation within TMC's flatbed fleet. This professional driver has accumulated nearly two million safe driving miles and has a spotless safety record.
Horatio (R) took a photo opportunity with Safety Manager, Oleg Mervyak (L) while being congratulated for hitting two million Safe Driving Miles.
“Horatio is always professional, willing to help others, and is a great asset to the company,” explains Drew Parker, TMC's Safety Manager. “He has 1.7 million safe miles, no cargo claims, and a CSA score of zero. His great safety record and attention to detail is what makes Horatio successful. I’m glad he is part of the TMC family.”
Horatio is dedicated to his career at TMC, and enjoys sharing his passion for truck driving with others. Aside from being an accomplished driver himself, he has found a calling in training new, inexperienced drivers, as well as helping to fine-tune the skills of experienced drivers as well. Horatio started training incoming drivers just one year after he got in his own truck. Since then, he has been named Trainer of the Month four times, and earned the prestigious title of Trainer of the Year in 2013.
“When I first started in the flatbed (or open-deck) trucking industry, I didn’t know anything about the freight industry. I did know that I wanted to be successful,” Horatio explains. “I’ve always been a people person, and I wanted to help out and share my talents with drivers beginning their careers here at TMC. With TMC's Percentage Pay Program, there are many opportunities for new drivers to make a lot of money. It’s not just for one person; anybody willing to work hard can have a rewarding career at TMC.”
Having spent a total of 610 weeks training new drivers, Horatio is TMC’s most tenured trainer. He currently has his 118th trainee in the truck.
When it comes to achieving success at TMC, Horatio finds it important for drivers to put themselves in a good position and keep a positive outlook. “Work hard and take it for what it is,” he explains. “Always strive to be the best, but remember that things happen - and they happen for a reason.”
It is no doubt that Horatio has worked hard to make a name for himself at TMC Transportation, with his can-do attitude and impeccable safety record. While he takes his career at TMC seriously, Horatio is really just a laid back guy and enjoys the relationships he’s developed here over the years. “There’s a sense of camaraderie at TMC. I like the friendly competition, but I’m also happy to see others succeed.”
We are proud to have Horatio as a part of the TMC team. He truly exemplifies Destination: Excellence.
