Apprenticeships at TMC

on Monday, May 6, 2024 in Company News

May 5-11 is National Youth Apprenticeship Week, which highlights the value of apprenticeship opportunities for Americans aged 16-24.

AT TMC, we believe that apprenticeships can help young people gain practical career skills to succeed in the professional world, and we offer apprenticeships in several different areas of our business.

Read on to learn more about what makes apprenticeships great and the types of apprenticeships available at TMC.

What Is an Apprenticeship?

In an apprenticeship, you get paid to learn a trade by working under a skilled, experienced professional. Apprenticeships involve both hands-on work experience and classroom training, to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your chosen professional field. You receive a paycheck while you’re getting skills that will prepare you for a great career.

Apprenticeships at TMC Transportation

We’re proud to offer two different types of apprenticeships at TMC: maintenance technician apprenticeships and driver apprenticeships.

Technician Apprenticeships

Maintenance technician apprenticeships prepare you for a career as a tractor or trailer technician. These rigorous programs include hands-on paid training and online classes to help high school graduates gain the skills for a successful career. Our apprentices work in our fast-paced maintenance shops, assisting experienced technicians with completing preventative maintenance, making repairs, and keeping our Black and Chrome fleet looking great.

Driver Apprenticeships

Driver apprenticeships prepare you to join TMC’s Black and Chrome fleet as a flatbed driver. You’ll receive classroom instruction to help you become a safe commercial driver as well as extensive behind-the-wheel training—all while you get a paycheck. TMC is known for its industry-leading driver training program, so all of our apprentices leave the program with the knowledge and real-world skills they need to succeed in their new career as a professional truck driver.

Apprenticeships can be a life-changing way to learn skills that will prepare you to succeed in your career. If you’d like to learn more about how you can become an apprentice at TMC—during National Youth Apprenticeship Week and the rest of the year—contact us for more information.
